Precies dat idee zit achter thSLVR, een nieuw getokeniseerd zilverproduct van het on-chain financieringsplatform Theo. Bij de lancering is het gedekt door zo&#8217;n 40 miljoen dollar aan actieve leases.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wat is getokeniseerd zilver eigenlijk?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even terug naar de basis. Een token is een digitaal bewijs op een blockchain dat iets vertegenwoordigt. In dit geval echt, fysiek zilver. Elke thSLVR-token staat dus voor een hoeveelheid zilver die ergens veilig ligt opgeslagen. Je koopt geen abstract koersproduct, maar een claim op het metaal zelf.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het voordeel van die tokenvorm is dat je zilver kunt verplaatsen, verhandelen en gebruiken zonder dat er ook maar een staaf van plek verandert. Je kunt het bezit doorsturen zoals je een cryptomunt verstuurt, terwijl het metaal gewoon in de kluis blijft liggen. Dat maakt iets logs en zwaars ineens licht en digitaal.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Waar komt dat rendement vandaan?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hier wordt het interessant. Volgens Theo houd je met thSLVR niet alleen blootstelling aan de zilverprijs, je verdient er ook aan. Dat komt doordat het onderliggende zilver wordt uitgeleend aan institutionele partijen, bedrijven die het metaal tijdelijk nodig hebben en daar een vergoeding voor betalen.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zie het als een verhuurd huis. Zolang het gebouw blijft staan stijgt of daalt de waarde ervan, maar ondertussen komt er ook huur binnen. Bij thSLVR is het metaal het huis en zijn de leases de huur. Die inkomsten vloeien terug naar de houders van de tokens.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Waarom juist nu, met zilver?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De timing is geen toeval. De fysieke zilvermarkt zat de afgelopen tijd flink klem. Zo&#8217;n krappe markt zie je terug in de zogenoemde lease rate, de rente die je betaalt om zilver te lenen. Die schoot op een bepaald moment kortstondig omhoog tot rond de 39 procent, een uitzonderlijk hoog niveau dat je bij een rustige markt nooit ziet.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zo&#8217;n hoge leenrente betekent dat er veel vraag is naar het metaal zelf en dat partijen bereid zijn er stevig voor te betalen. Precies dat maakt een product dat zilver uitleent aantrekkelijk: hoe schaarser het metaal, hoe waardevoller het is om er tijdelijk over te kunnen beschikken. Het aantrekkelijke voor beleggers zit in de combinatie: je krijgt de prijsbeweging van een tastbare grondstof, plus een extra inkomstenstroom die traditioneel bezit van zilver niet biedt.
