Wie bepaalt eigenlijk de koers van een netwerk dat door duizenden mensen tegelijk wordt gebouwd? Bij Ethereum ligt dat gevoelig, want het draait juist om decentralisatie. Toch speelt de Ethereum Foundation een sturende rol op de achtergrond. En daar is nu een nieuw gezicht bijgekomen: beveiligingsonderzoeker pcaversaccio, in de gemeenschap simpelweg bekend als “pc”, schuift aan in het bestuur.<\/p>\n\n

Wie is pcaversaccio eigenlijk?<\/h2>\n\n

Misschien zegt de naam je niets, en dat is niet gek. Pcaversaccio opereert vooral onder de motorkap van Ethereum. Hij geldt als een van de meest gerespecteerde beveiligingsonderzoekers in het ecosysteem. Zijn werk draait om het opsporen van kwetsbaarheden in slimme contracten: de stukjes code die op Ethereum draaien en waarmee bijvoorbeeld leningen, handel en apps automatisch werken.<\/p>\n\n

Je kunt zo’n slim contract zien als een automatische kassa die precies doet wat er in de code staat. Zit daar een foutje in, dan kan een aanvaller dat misbruiken en in het ergste geval de kas leegtrekken. Precies dat soort risico’s probeert iemand als pc te voorkomen. Dat hij nu in het bestuur zit, zegt iets over waar de Foundation de nadruk wil leggen.<\/p>\n\n

Van drie naar vier bestuursleden<\/h2>\n\n

Met de komst van pc groeit het bestuur van de Ethereum Foundation naar vier leden. Dat lijkt een klein getal, maar bij een organisatie die het grootste smart-contractnetwerk ter wereld ondersteunt, telt elke stoel zwaar. De Foundation zelf beheert het netwerk niet direct, maar financiert onderzoek, ondersteunt ontwikkelaars en helpt de langetermijnrichting bepalen.<\/p>\n\n

De benoeming maakt deel uit van bredere veranderingen in de leiding, zoals de organisatie op haar eigen blog<\/a> toelichtte. De Foundation deelde het nieuws ook via X<\/a>. Het past in een periode waarin de organisatie duidelijker probeert te maken wie waarvoor verantwoordelijk is.<\/p>\n\n
